At one time there were so many cinemas in Nottingham city centre; Gaumont, Elite, Scala, Savoy and ABC spring readily to mind. All closed and redeveloped apart from the Savoy. Here is a picture of another, the name can just be made out on the facade, Odeon. The interesting thing here is that I actually saw the Beatles perform here circa 1964. Unfortunately I cannot recall much of the occasion as it was really no big deal at the time. I suspect there may have been alot of girls going silly, possibly my sister and two female cousins whom I went with too.
Amazingly there were three cinemas in the Meadows, Imperial, Grove and Globe, all sadly demolished with the majority of the buildings during its re-development.
