This used to be my favourite local pub, except it's in Bagthorpe just a short walk down the road. It's a traditional olde worlde pub full of character, and characters. It was actually used by the BBC TV company in a production of a D H Lawrence story way back in the 70s; which is apt as D H Lawrence lived and wrote his stories in this area. Once had a good open-mike night in there when I gave it some Oasis. It used to feature some great ales from Leadmill, a micro-brewery just up the road in Selston, with names such as Apocalypse Now and Agent Orange.
